Updates

New articles are now posted on the website. Most have to do with cooking, simply because it's something I love to do. You can find them at the top of the New page.

For a brief two minutes last weekend, my adorable grandson was a movie star on the big screen at the Ozark Foothills FilmFest. While grandma may not be the best filmmaker in the world, his cuteness more than made up for my failings. :)

Speaking of filmmaking, we put our first short, The Fan, in the can so to speak weekend before last. Now comes editing and getting ready for the next short, Truth of Becoming, the week-end of May 7th.

It's raining here, and other than the occasional boomers, I'm glad to see it. Firebugs don't bother me much when the ground is wet. Just north of here last weekend, over 700 acres burned. I can live without that.

So keep watching the website, I'm trying to add a couple of articles every day (at least during the week). Oh, and back to work on my next novel or screenplay...still not sure which direction this story should take.

Busy, Busy Week Ahead

So much to do and so very little time. Kevin started his new job today and I've got less than a week to get the house ready for our film shoot on Saturday. Got the final menu planned for the feeding of cast and crew. Still have to iron clothing that will be used for costumes and print out scripts, production sheets and shot lists. And clean house and, and, and...

To update on the Arsonist situation last week. We went to the sheriff's office on Friday and identified the guy. There is now a warrant out for his arrest (at least according to rumors) and it appears he has other warrants outstanding also (again according to local gossip). We'll see where it goes.

Now off to get all this stuff done!

My New Roaster

Bought this last week and used it for the first time on Saturday. Love this appliance. Cooked up 10 pounds of BBQed chicken quarters in very little time and didn't heat up the kitchen. I've had roaster's before, and Nesco is still the number one brand to buy.

Watch Backwoods Living for tips and recipes using this tabletop oven. As we'll be using it to feed a crowd while we are filming - I'm sure it will lead to a number of articles.

I Like Excitement..but an arsonist?

Went outside a couple of hours ago, and saw a man walking down the road. Kevin saw a half dozen small fires burning to the other side of the property down the gas line. We walk out to the road only to see this guy start another fire. Kevin stays at the road, me, I run in and call the sheriff and the neighbors.

Now, it appears he's deep in the woods, still starting fires. Sheriff called for backup and the Forestry Department and several fire departments are now up here putting out flames.

Sheriff found a truck in the ditch up the road, so we're assuming it belongs to this guy. Guessing also he's either drunk or cranked up on something. Just hoping they find him soon - probably won't sleep well tonight if they don't.

More later as I find things out. (Which the way things work may be next week in the newspaper) :)

Progress

As with all things we do, it's one thing at a time with twenty other things running through our brains simultaneously. But that's the way we work best. Concentrate on one thing, whilst thinking about other goals needing to be reached.

The Fan script is locked down and the actors appear happy with the story. Way cool. Kevin spent yesterday making false walls so we can change the appearance of any room in our house during filming and even create rooms within rooms.

Backwoods Living is slowly but surely becoming transformed into a more easily readable website. Categories are being added, so our readers can find the information they are looking for. That will be a plus for both them and us. :)

Temperatures today are in the low 70s - perfect for early March. I am truly hoping that winter is over for us; I am so ready to put away coats, hats and boots and bring out the warm weather clothes.

So onward and forward...

And so it begins...

Feels like spring outside, daffodils and daylilies are springing from the ground, and with spring always comes the hopes of new beginnings. Things are changing and hopefully all the changes will be for the good.

First of all, we plan to devote a lot more time to the website, Backwoods Living. Plans are underway for a minor site redesign and many, many new articles over the coming months.

Filming begins for us in less than three weeks. The first, on March 19th, will be a story from my book Kats Tales - Journeys Into the Velvet Darkness: Revealed Evil. It is one of several stories we plan to turn into 'moving pictures' before the end of the year.

We've already begun the remodel of the house. Both for using it as a 'film set' but also for our own comfort and enjoyment. Bedroom, dressing room and bathroom are done. Part of the living room is complete and plans are well underway for the new library (so we'll have a place for all my books).

So keep watching...things are a changin'.
